The MAX1518EVKIT evaluation board is a DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS system, designed to allow quick and easy evaluation of the MAX1518/1519 offline switching regulator ICs. These ICs provide flexible integrated circuit solutions for various high-density, high-efficiency power conversion applications.

The MAX1518EVKIT system consists of a MAX1518 power stage IC connected to a DC power input, and an adjustable AC bridge power stage. The input voltage can be adjusted from 70 to 260 VAC, allowing the evaluation of different power requirements. The DC voltage output range is 0.9 V to 18 V. Output power is adjustable from 6.5 W to 25 W, and the board comes with a wide selection of input and output connectors.

In terms of application fields, the MAX1518EVKIT offers numerous flexibility options. For example, it can be used as a reference design for fast transient-response offline power supplies, including chargers, adapters, and DC/DC converters. The integrated AC forward bridge power stage provides EMI filter and protection features such as line under-and over-voltage protection and Over-temperature-Protection (OTP). The power stage consists of a bridge rectifier and a low-cost, high-performance integrated FET switch, which provides fast switching with low conduction losses, allowing the system to operate at high frequency with high efficiency. Finally, the board also includes a 600 V power pass transistor, allowing it to operate in a higher current range than comparable SMPS designs, providing higher power density.
