With the increasing demand for electronic products in the 21st century, the power electronics market has also been expanding. With the development of complex power supplies, customers require accurate and reliable product performance to ensure product safety and reliability and reduce project costs. Texas Instruments provides MAX1543EVKIT evaluation kit for testing the performance of its product family, the MAX15433 digital power-supply controller. The MAX1543EVKIT application field and working principle are introduced below.
The MAX1543EVKIT evaluation board contains the MAX15433 digital power-supply controller, two DC/DC converters, and an AC/DC (off-line) switch-mode power supply (SMPS). This evaluation board enables customers to evaluate the performance of the MAX15433 power supply controller and its high integration features that allow easy application in low-power DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS.
The MAX1543EVKIT also has three different output power supply topologies. For DC/DC converters, the board supports a conventional flyback topology for low power applications and a resonant auxiliary-flyback topology for higher power applications. For AC/DC (off-line) SMPS, the board supports a single-ended primary inductor (SEPIC) topology.
The MAX1543EVKIT can operate in both regulated and non-regulated voltage outputs. It is also capable of operating in highly efficient universal power supplies operating in both AC-DC and DC-DC modes. The board supports a wide input voltage range to provide the best overall efficiency and transient response for the most demanding applications.
In order to accurately measure the performance of the MAX15433 power supply controller, the MAX1543EVKIT evaluation board is designed with all the necessary instrumentation to accurately measure AC and DC characteristics of the MAX15433. The board includes x2 RTD temperature sensors and x4 voltage sense amplifiers to measure the temperature, voltage, and current of the module under test. The board also includes an x3 differential oscilloscope for monitoring the switching waveform of the module under test.
In terms of working principle, the MAX1543EVKIT board is powered by a 3.3V input voltage that is supplied by an external power supply. The MAX1543EVKIT module integrates a full-bridge rectifier, a linear voltage regulator, and a buck boost converter to provide an output voltage of 12V. The output voltage is determined by the voltage feedback of the linear voltage regulator. The buck-boost converter operates in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) to provide the output voltage. The board also includes a digitally controlled PWM controller for controlling the output voltage of the buck boost converter.
The MAX1543EVKIT evaluation board is designed to meet customer requirements of the modern power-supply industry. With its powerful features and versatile design, customers are able to accurately measure the performance of the MAX15433 digital power-supply controller while developing the cost-effective power-supply applications of the future.
