Maxim Integrated\'s MAX16833DAUE is a high-performance, low-cost, 3 MHz, I2C-adjustable, 1x/2x/3x/4x/ or Boost constant-current LED driver intended to drive LEDs in LCD displays, general illumination and optical backlight designs. The MAX16833DAUE is a salient feature to the Maxim Integrated portfolio of 1x/2x/3x/4x and Boost constant-current LED drivers, targeting the needs of both small and large displays. Thanks to the industry-leading efficiency and high power factor, the MAX16833DAUE supports a wide range of applications, including both low-end and high-end LED displays.

The MAX16833DAUE is based on the PWM optimized method, wherein the LED current is regulated with Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) of the LED current. The LED current is regulated and maintained regardless of the LED chain\'s length or voltage variations. An adjustable PWM frequency provides noise elimination and flicker free display imaging. Furthermore, the MAX16833DAUE comes with an integrated regulator and internal temperature protection for improved reliability. The MAX16833DAUE also features a wide operating temperature range and fast transient response, making it suitable for a variety of end applications.

The MAX16833DAUE includes two I2C registers that can be programmed by the user in order to set the desired LED current, LED modulation frequency and other parameters. The onboard I2C interface provides a convenient way to adjust the LED current or modulation frequency without having to change any external circuitry. Furthermore, the MAX16833DAUE provides a programmable fault detection and system reset output which helps to detect and protect against any fault conditions that may arise in the system.
