.The MAX17033GTL+T is a special purpose voltage regulator that is widely used in the portable electronic device market. This regulator is designed to provide clean, efficient and low noise DC power to a wide range of applications. The MAX17033GTL+T can provide adjustable output voltages from 2.8V to 6.5V and 0.4V to 6.5V with adjustable 0.5V or 1.0V steps. The maximum output current can reach 10A and the quiescent current is only 50uA. This regulator features 94% efficiency at full power and 95% efficiency at 50% to 80% load. The switching frequency is adjustable from 80kHz to 400kHz to reduce EMI radiation. Furthermore, the wide input voltage range (1.2V to 3.6V) is compatible with a range of battery voltage levels, such as Li+ battery, LiPo battery and other single cell rechargeable batteries.
The MAX17033GTL+T features Built-in Input Overvoltage Protection (OVP) and Output Overvoltage Protection (OVP). The Over-current protection includes variable cycle-by-cycle current limit and adjustable hiccup mode current limit. With overload and over/under-temperature protection, the device will not be damaged when the overshoot current limits are reached and the environment temperature out of range.The device incorporates several fault flags that are used for monitoring the device\'s condition.
The working principle of MAX17033GTL+T is based on the synchronous buck converter concept. The buck converter operates by passing power from an input voltage source to an output voltage sink through separate upper and lower power MOSFETs. When the MOSFETs operate in an alternating manner, they create an effective switch that allows power to be passed between the input and output. The MAX17033GTL+T takes advantage of this switch characteristic by regulating the power that passes through it. A voltage feedback control loop regulates the output voltage. The loop will control the average voltage level of the output by turning the MOSFETs on and off at a switching frequency to maintain the desired output voltage.
