The MAX17116EVKIT# families of evaluation boards are used to help system design engineers evaluate the performance of low-voltage, synchronous step-down DC/DC regulators and AC/DC offline SMPS. The evaluation boards provide convenience and flexibility for system designers to quickly prototype and evaluate their designs.
The MAX17116EVKIT# family consists of four variations. The MAX17116EVKIT#-A is designed to evaluate MAX17116A DC/DC Regulators with an adjustable output voltage. The MAX17116EVKIT#-B is designed to evaluate MAX17116B DC/DC Regulators with a fixed output voltage. The MAX17116EVKIT#-C and D are designed to evaluate MAX17116C and D AC/DC Offline SMPS.
The MAX17116EVKIT#-A and B evaluation boards include a HVIN input voltage of 10V to 16V, a low output voltage and high current operation of +0.9V to +20V and 700mA respectively. The MAX17116EVKIT#-C and D evaluation boards feature a HVIN input voltage of 18V to 24V, a low output voltage and high current operation of +0.9V to +20V and 700mA respectively. The evaluation boards also include a PMOS switch feature that allows for power sequencing of multiple systems.
The evaluation boards feature a robust voltage reference, current limit, and over current protection with thermal shutdown circuitry. They also feature low-quiescent current consumption of 19uA and a low noise operation with a wide frequency range of 200KHz to 700KHz.
The evaluation boards have a high-efficiency of up to 94% and an advanced PWM modulator control system to provide fast response times. They also feature an integrated input voltage surge protector and a programmable under voltage lockout (UVLO). The evaluation boards utilize smart power supply and MOSFET switches to enable an efficient thermal overload protection.
The MAX17116EVKIT#-A and B evaluation boards are also compatible with other devices that have a DC/DC regulator design. The evaluation boards have an adjustable power output of up to 15W, and are capable of operating in a variety of different conditions. Additionally, the evaluation boards support high peak current operation of up to 6A.
