PMIC - Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Regulators The MAX17244ETERA+T integrated circuit is a high-efficiency, high-output-voltage, synchronous step-down DC-DC switching regulator suitable for a wide range of portable applications. With a wide input voltage range, tight load regulation, and high types and efficiencies, the MAX17244 is ideal for many battery-powered systems, such as telecommunication and portable medical devices, which need to operate for long periods on limited battery power. The MAX17244 is also suitable for other applications where high efficiency and tight regulation are desired. The MAX17244ETERA+T is well suited for implementing a low quiescent current buck regulator in a small footprint. On-chip devices include low-resistance N-channel MOSFET buck switches, an integrated inductor, and a high-accuracy voltage reference. The device can operate at up to 1MHz and has programmable soft-start.The MAX17244ETERA+T also features:• Ability to maintain a load regulation of 1% or less over the input voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V.• High efficiency of 94% at 1.8V input and 4.1V output.• Minimum output voltage capability of 0.7V.• Programmable switching frequency up to 1MHz• Programmable soft-start• Integrated inductor• N-channel MOSFET buck switches• Internal current limitThe MAX17244ETERA+T integrates a hysteretic buck controller with external NMOS/PMOS switches and an integrated inductor to provide a single-stage buck solution. The device also includes a high-frequency 100kHz Oscillator, an error amplifier, and a voltage reference, which control the output voltage.The device operates in a single-cycle, fixed frequency, Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) mode. The internal oscillator sets the switching frequency independent of the output voltage and load current. As the load current varies, the width of the pulses increases or decreases to maintain an accurate output voltage.The MAX17244ETERA+T is designed to provide a high-efficiency, power-saving solution while delivering a low output voltage with a very tight load regulation. It is capable of operating in a wide input voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V with a minimum output voltage of 0.7V. The device can also operate up to a maximum switching frequency of 1MHz.In addition to the features mentioned above, the MAX17244ETERA+T also features a programmable soft-start circuit. In this case, the output voltage is limited to a minimum during the soft-start process, thereby avoiding large input surge currents when the device is powered up.The MAX17244ETERA+T also incorporates an internal current limit circuit to protect from overcurrent conditions. It is programmable and can be configured to any value above the minimum current limit of 0.5A.The MAX17244ETERA+T is especially suitable for smart-phone and notebook applications due to its high efficiency, tight regulation, and low quiescent current. It is a cost-effective solution for applications requiring high efficiency and tight regulation.
