The MAX17244EVKIT evaluation kit is designed for DC/DC and AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS applications. It demonstrates the MAX17244 synchronous 4-switch buck-boost switching regulator. The kit is a 7A, wide input voltage range step-up/step-down converter, which can be easily configured by the selection of external components. The MAX17244 synchronous buck-boost switching regulator provides versatility in a compact solution and offers a wide range of solutions for a variety of DC/DC and AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS applications. The MAX17244 EVKIT allows designers to evaluate the device\'s features and performance over the operating input voltage range of 4V to 40V. It provides adjustable output voltage from 0.8V to 36V for a wide variety of applications in industrial, automotive, and communication markets. The EVKIT circuit is designed to operate in the continuous conduction mode (CCM) which is suitable for medium load applications.
The MAX17244 EVKIT operates as a 4-switch synchronous buck-boost converter and provides an overlapping pulse-width modulation (PWM). The layout of the EVKIT board allows for easy external component selection to optimize the design to minimize power losses, external component cost and size. It provides a schematic and layout files to enable easy design modifications and to customize the circuit today. The kit also provides a fast and easy-to-use time-saving evaluation platform.
The integrated control circuit features an internal soft start and loop compensation as well as an adjustable current limit. The SPI interface allows the user to program the device easily with the Maxim FlexPerf GUI software. The EVKIT provides an efficient way to evaluate the performance of the MAX17244EVKIT in a safe and practical way, as well as providing validation of the device\'s operation. The graphical monitoring software included with the kit allows the user to visualise the performance of the MAX17244EVKIT in a graphical form, giving instant feedback of the design\'s performance enhancements or system changes.
An easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI) is included to enable rapid evaluation of the MAX17244EVKIT. The GUI provides simple control of the evaluation system with 9 different settings, from input voltage, load current and temperature. The graphical display outputs can be exported into a software package such as Microsoft Excel, for further analysis and graphing.
The MAX17244EVKIT also comes with evaluation boards such as the MAX17244ONB_EVKIT and MAX17244PBC_EVKIT, which offer non-isolated and isolated board versions respectively. These boards provide the user with additional control and features, such as fast transient response to load steps, rectified or non-inverting output voltage schemes, multiple feedback topology options and multiple phase operation.
