MAX17543ATP+T is a high performance, low quiescent current synchronous step-down DC-DC switching regulator produced by Maxim Integrated. Its small size also helps to make it a great choice for portable systems due to its space-saving benefits.Working PrincipleThe MAX17543ATP+T synchronous step-down switching regulator is composed of a power MOSFET, rectifier diode, low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator, charge pump circuit, load switch, and current/voltage sensing circuitry, all of which are integrated into a single package.The output voltage of the device is regulated by the power MOSFET that is turned on and off periodically. When it is turned on, the inductor stores energy and when it is turned off the energy is delivered to the output. The energy delivery (switching) frequency is kept stable by a frequency control loop. This switching frequency is adjustable and can be set by the user depending on the application requirements.The current/voltage sensing circuitry is used to monitor the voltage and current at the output to ensure that the output remains stable and within the predefined limits. To maximize efficiency, the device also incorporates a feature called “burst mode”. This helps to minimize power loss and improve efficiency.The linear regulator is used to generate the output voltage for light load conditions and when the “burst mode” is active.
