The MAX17558DPEVKIT# is a DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS Evaluation Board specifically designed for evaluating the MAX17558V and MAX17558M regulators. The MAX17558V is a dual-output, hysteretic, synchronous, gate-driver SMPS controller. The MAX17558M is a single output, hysteretic, synchronous, gate-driver SMPS controller.
The MAX17558DPEVKIT# provides the capability to evaluate each device under various operating conditions, such as output voltage, input voltage, switch current, and environment temperature. It also allows the evaluation of the device’s thermal behavior and thermal protection features, as well as other system performance metrics. The MAX17558V and MAX17558M offer high-efficiency, low-cost solutions for driving power-MOSFET or IGBTs used in off-line applications.
The MAX17558V is capable of driving two independent power switches with adjustable dead time in order to improve board layout. The MAX17558M can drive a single power switch with adjustable dead time which allows the designer to optimize the system performance, layout, and cost based on the application requirements. The MAX17558V and MAX17558M require only a single external resistor to program the output voltage, and have advanced options such as current limit, soft start, and cycle-by-cycle current-limit protection.
The MAX17558V and MAX17558M include internal Internal Start-up power via an integrated Soft-Start switch and the internal phase-shift regulator (PSR) to reduce system power consumption. The integrated Soft Start switch helps increase the efficiency during wide load transient conditions. The integrated PSR allows the MAX17558V and MAX17558M to achieve lower output voltage ripple, higher efficiency and lower EMI. Both regulators feature under voltage lockout (UVLO) with hysteresis, enabling easy external power-on sequencing.
The MAX17558DPEVKIT# includes all the components required for evaluating the MAX17558V and MAX17558M and is designed to support various utilizations. The EV kit includes the MAX17558V and the MAX17558M, zero-voltage switching (ZVS) inductors and restive filters with a selection of Schottky rectifying diodes, gate resistors, bootstrap capacitors, enable pins, and compensation components. A full evaluation board is also provided to ensure the evaluation process is as straightforward as possible.
The enclosed user manual contains easy-to-follow instructions for installation, setup, and use of the evaluation board. Through the evaluation board, the user has the capability to measure, monitor, and analyze several common SMPS variables such as output voltage (VOUT), frequency, load step response, temperature, switch current (ISW), and transient response. The evaluation board also provides several options to change and evaluate various parameters of the device.
The MAX17558DPEVKIT# evaluation board is used to evaluate the MAX17558V and MAX17558M regulators, which are ideal for off-line applications.
