The MAX1765EEE+ features a linear-mode output for low-noise, high-accuracy voltage regulation, and a switch-mode output for high-efficiency power conversion. The device automatically selects the appropriate mode, depending on output voltage and load current. When the load current is within the maximum linear-mode specification, the device operates in linear mode. When the load current exceeds the linear-mode specification, the device automatically switches to switch mode.The linear-mode output is achieved via an ON/OFF switch, the output voltage being set and regulated by the amplifier’s reference voltage. A fixed-frequency, pulse-width-modulated (PWM) control loop is used in switch-mode operation to ensure fast and accurate response to load changes.The MAX1765EEE+ also has an integrated selectable output voltage function, allowing for a wide range of output voltages from 0.8V to 5.5V.
