MAX17681AEVKITB# is an evaluation board used to evaluate the MAX17681A microprocessor-based off-line switch-mode power supply (SMPS) controller. This board is designed to generate a simple 40V/0.5A DC output with constant current limiting to a maximum load current of 1.0A. The MAX17681AEVKITB# provides a single-board design solution that is ideal for use in applications such as battery charger, printer, consumer handheld, etc. The MAX17681AEVKITB# evaluation board is based on the MAX17681A, a microprocessor-based off-line switch-mode power supply controller that integrates a low-side MOSFET, internal 6-bit DAC, and precision current sensing circuit. The MAX17681A features programmable PWM frequency, programmable soft start time and current limiting, as well as an auto-restart feature in the event of a short-circuit condition. The MAX17681A can be programmed via a serial peripheral interface (SPI), and requires only a few external components to create an efficient off-line SMPS.The MAX17681AEVKITB# evaluation board is a complete solution for evaluating the MAX17681A off-line SMPS controller. The board is powered by an AC/DC wall adapter that provides a 9V to 12V DC input voltage. This input voltage is then regulated to 5V by an internal DC-DC converter for powering the MAX17681A and associated components. A push-and-hold button is provided to enable programming of the MAX17681A via an SPI interface, and an LED is provided for system status indication.The MAX17681AEVKITB# evaluation board measures 40mm x 64mm and includes a 4-layer design with a two-layer wide-area ground plane for improved thermal performance. The board also includes several test points for enabling external controller monitoring and measurement. The MAX17681AEVKITB# evaluation board has two operating modes: constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC). In CV mode, the output voltage can be adjusted up to 40V, and the maximum current is limited to 1.0A. In CC mode, the output current can be adjusted up to 1.0A, and the output voltage is limited to 40V. This board also has a programmable soft start feature, with adjustable soft start time from 0 to maximum 10s. Additionally, the board is programmable via the SPI interface, enabling users to customize their power output. Despite its small size, the MAX17681AEVKITB# evaluation board offers excellent performance and is an ideal platform for evaluation and development of off-line switch-mode power supplies. The board provides a complete solution with an integrated MAX17681A and few external components, as well as easy programming and test capability via the SPI interface.
