The MAX1778 EVKIT is an evaluation board kit from Maxim Integrated. It is an off-line DC/DC & AC/DC SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) rated for 5-A output current at 4.5-V output voltage. The board has robustness features for over voltage protection, current limiting, short circuit protection, and thermal protection. It is designed for quick and easy evaluation of voltage regulator performance in various real-world scenarios.The MAX1778 EVKIT evaluation board includes a switching power supply controller, power MOSFETs, inductors and capacitors for efficient, low-cost power conversion. The board is pre-programmed with reference design settings to achieve optimum switching operation and reliable power delivery. It also includes a header for interfacing with optional programming circuits, such as EEPROMs or DACs.The MAX1778 controller utilizes a single-phase pulse-width modulation (PWM) switching technique. This technique minimizes switching losses and reduces the voltage stress on the switch, allowing a more efficient conversion of electrical energy.
