MAX19506EVKIT+ is an evaluation board from Maxim Integrated Products, designed for quick and easy evaluation of the MAX19506, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and differential voltage input. The kit is used to evaluate the performance of the ADC over a wide range of input voltages and conditions. The MAX19506 EVKIT+ board has a 16-bit SAR ADC, PGA, 3-phase sequencer, temperature sensor, 24-bit delta-sigma modulator, programmable reference, and internal clock with external reference option. The board provides 16 single-ended inputs, seven 16-bit DAC outputs, a 32-channel LED indicator driver, and one buffered zone analog output. The maximum output data rate of the MAX19506 EVKIT+ evaluation board is 4MSPS. The DC performance is characterized up to 4.5V.
The MAX19506 EVKIT+ board is designed to provide the user with a convenient platform to test the performance of the MAX19506 ADC. The evaluation board is powered by analog and digital supplies and the primary power source is selectable between the on-board power supply or an external supply. The MAX19506 EVKIT+ includes several test points for voltage monitoring and is designed to measure the performance of the ADC over supply, temperature, and other operating conditions.
The working principle of the MAX19506 EVKIT+ is as follows. First, the analog input voltage is applied to the ADC input pins of the EVKIT+ board. The 16-bit PGA amplifies the input at a predetermined gain level. The amplified signal is then passed through the 3-phase sample and hold sequencer to acquire the data. The acquired data is then feed to the 24-bit delta-sigma modulator to generate a digital output stream. The PGA also features an internal reference voltage compensation scheme and a temperature sensor to monitor the gain stability over temperature.
