It is a programmable and field-programmable non-isolated buck regulator device. The MAX1970EEE+ is designed to drive low voltage loads up to 13V and supports a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 20V. It has an integrated power switch which has an adjustable current limit, an adjustable soft start, and an adjustable output voltage reference, making this an ideal regulator for a wide range of applications. It has a low quiescent current, and features a watchdog timer, an EP (emergency power) power limiter, and an overvoltage protection circuit. It also comes with an analog dimming control and an I2C interface with an integrated voltage control loop. Moreover, it is RoHS and UL compliant, thus making it an excellent choice for many different applications.Working Principle of MAX1970EEE+
The MAX1970EEE+ operates by converting a DC input voltage, typically from 4.5V to 20V, to a regulated DC output voltage of up to 13V. The device is based on a standard switching buck topology. There is a power switch which is operated using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). When the input voltage is higher than the output voltage of the device, the power switch periodically switches on and off. When it is switched on an inductor charges up and stores energy, when it is switched off the energy stored in the inductor is released and passed to the load as regulated voltage. The period of the switching is determined by the feedback loop circuit. The feedback loop contains a voltage reference, a comparison circuit and an error amplifier which compares the output voltage of the device with the reference voltage. The error amplifier then compensates for any difference between the output voltage and the reference voltage.Application Field of MAX1970EEE+
