Interface - Controllers
The MAX3140CEI+ is a high-speed, low-power, IrDA-compliant, half-duplex transceiver that operates in the IrDA-standard 115.2 kbps data rate. This transceiver is designed to be used in personal area networks (PANs), radiation-free, short-range communications links between computers and other digital devices. It is suitable for use in a variety of applications, including industrial and medical diagnostics, data logging and data collection, mobile phones and cellular phones, point-of-sale terminals, office automation, and remote control systems.
The MAX3140CEI+ operates over an extended temperature range – -40°C to +85°C – and delivers 3.3V or 5V supply voltage. This transceiver features a +4dBm tolerance for optical power output and a maximum data rate of 115.2 kbps. It also incorporates a programmable range from 1m to 2m and a power-down mode that reduces power consumption while maintaining protocol compatibility. The MAX3140CEI+ is also integrated with IrDA compatible configurations.
The MAX3140CEI+ is equipped with an advanced transmitter and receiver that support data rates up to 115.2 kbps. The transmitter works by converting pre-transmission digital signals into serial pulses and transmitting them through an infrared port. On the receiving end, the Infrared receiver then converts the serial pulses into pre-transmission digital signals. The transmitter utilizes current-mode logic (CML) output circuitry to allow for faster switching times. This is especially beneficial when transmitting larger data blocks.
The MAX3140CEI+ is also able to self-adjust the timing of the data signals in order to compensate for any interferences. In addition, the transceiver supports both half-duplex and full-duplex modes, making it perfect for applications that require bidirectional communication.
