The primary application field of the MAX34440ETLA1+ is to monitor the voltage rail, protecting the system and the peripherals against over-voltage and under-voltage conditions. The MAX34440ETLA1+ provides an adjustable Time-out pulse width with a factory-set value of 8 ms. This pulse is generated when either the overvoltage or the undervoltage conditions occur. The MAX34440ETLA1+ is driven by a single-wire serial peripheral interface (SPI). The serial input controls the Programming Register via 10 bits and provides access to an array of digital configuration bits, allowing flexibility for programming various OV and UV thresholds.
In addition, the MAX34440ETLA1+ provides an active-low output pulse when each OV/UV threshold is exceeded. It also has several power saving features, including a disable pin that can be used to suspend the detection circuit, allowing the system to consume less power when the rail is not being monitored.
The MAX34440ETLA1+ has integrated glitch and spike filters, which minimizes false trips due to power system transients and improves the immunity of the device against the common-mode noise.
