The MAX3816ACUE+ is an integrated simple scaler for the video interface that targets the advancing high definition displays tailored for digital video application. It is designed as a one-chip solution to easily implement any digital video input connection to any external display. The MAX3816ACUE+ is a broadening of the MAX3816ACUE family, identified as a simple and cost effective scalar for the video interface. It is available in two different versions, the MAX3816T and the MAX3816CU, which are suitable for various applications such as digital home theater, laptop display, personal computer set top and rear projection systems.
The MAX3816ACUE+ is a versatile scaler perfect for any application that requires a quick and efficient scaling of digital video signals. The scalar operates as a full-speed one-chip with all of its associated calculations and operations, allowing for a faster and simpler integration. Primarily, the device acts as a logical port, bridging various digital signals to the display. The scaler is divided into four major processing blocks – Input Select, Output Timing, Scaling, and Scaler OPM Interface.
The Input Select block processes the incoming video signals and allows them to be selected from either the Analog or Digital inputs using the FPD-Link III Interface. The Output Timing block processes the signals and produces an output timing signal that allows the monitor, TV or other display devices to sync the image to the desired resolution. Scaling is used to zoom or scale the input resolution to the desired resolution, while Scaler OPM Interface allows for various settings to optimize the graphics output.
The MAX3816ACUE+ also functions as a computer video frame rate converter for a range of video resolutions up to 1920×1200. The device’s multiple interpolation algorithms allow for fast and accurate conversion from one resolutions to another. It supports different formats such as HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs, as well as Digital VESA-CEA (Consumer Electronics Association), enabling users to choose from a range of formats. The MAX3816ACUE+ also supports multiple simultaneous input resolutions.
