The MAX38902BATA+T features dual voltage rails and a wide temperature operating range (-40°C to +125°C). It provides up to 2.8A of continuous current output, with a minimum voltage drop of 0.2V. It has low quiescent current of 10μA (typ) and low quiescent noise of 6mV (typ). It also offers excellent transient response and line regulation.The device includes a slew rate control pin (FORCE), which allows the user to optimise the output voltage ripple and transient response of the regulator, by controlling the rate at which the output voltage is changed. The FORCE pin can also be used to reduce quiescent current, by reducing the output voltage ripple.Working Principle
The MAX38902BATA+T is a linear regulator, in which a voltage difference is introduced across a high impedance pass element, called a series element, by control of an external reference voltage. The reference voltage can be either a fixed value or an externally monitored one.The series element drains current from the input voltage and supplies it to the output. This can be done with a simple linear regulator, or a more complex switching regulator. The MAX38902BATA+T is a linear regulator, which uses an internal low dropout (LDO) series element to provide reliable output regulation.The input voltage is compared to the internal reference voltage, and the difference is used to control the series element in order to maintain the output voltage.
