The MAX8804VETA+T is an advanced power management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed to power up and charge two Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries. This device is part of a comprehensive family of PMICs optimized for integration in a range of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and wearable technology. The MAX8804VETA+T extends a roadmap of battery chargers optimized to maximize efficiency while delivering the most advanced power capabilities for today’s applications. It combines four essential features into a single integrated solution: battery charge pump, voltage regulator, power management and protection.

The MAX8804VETA+T integrates a high-efficiency charge pump providing load balancing and an option for powering the system during battery recharge, as well as an adaptive charger control for single-cell Li-ion batteries and a charge current control circuit. The voltage regulator -- with output voltage adjustable up to 4.2V -- features an adjustable switching frequency from 1kHz to 4MHz, allowing designers to optimize LED performance and minimize audible noise. It also provides an input voltage select feature and voltage level monitoring (VREF), and is optimized for low power requirements.

The MAX8804VETA+T provides a host of power management features, including a system power-on reset (POR) signal, voltage and current monitoring along with system power interface. It also features protection against overvoltage (OV), overcurrent (OC) and short-circuit (SC) conditions. In addition, the MAX8804VETA+T features an adaptive thermal protection system that adjusts the output voltage of the charge pump to reduce temperature.

The MAX8804VETA+T provides an ideal solution for a range of portable applications, including new mobile phones and tablets, delivered over-the-air (OTA) programmed updates and smartwatch bezels.
