Its topology includes a high voltage AC or DC input, a high voltage rectifier, a power factor correction (PFC) boost converter, an LLC resonant converter, and a flyback or boost-buck converter. It also includes extensive diagnostic, protection, and monitoring functions, including over-current protection. This evaluation board is designed to be highly flexible, allowing the user to quickly configure and adjust the operating parameters, including input voltage range, output voltage and current range, switching frequency range and duty cycle range.
The MAXM17502EVKIT is designed to work with both AC and DC inputs, and can provide an output of up to 500W at 90% efficiency. It is designed for a maximum operating frequency of 300kHz and a maximum operating duty cycle of 99%. The control systems are a combination of analog and digital control loops. The analog loop is an integrator-based voltage error amplifier, enabling precise, stable, and low noise output voltage regulation. The digital loop is a type-2 fuzzy differential control loop, which provides highly dynamic loop responses and fast transient response.
The MAXM17502EVKIT also provides several safety features, such as output over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, and over-current protection. In addition, a wide range of higher voltage outputs can be achieved with the use of additional external components. The power components on the evaluation board were carefully selected to provide superior performance and reliability.
