MAXM17574EVKIT is a single phase synchronous rectified system, composed of a synchronous rectifier, a half-bridge MOSFET driver and a high-side gate driver. This cost-effective evaluation kit supports Universal Off-Line Switching Regulator applications. It provides adequate support for designing switching power supply systems, such as AC/DC and DC/DC converters.

The MAXM17574EVKIT has a wide range of applications and development capabilities which is suitable for many purposes. It can be used in small and medium-power AC/DC converters, DC to DC converters, DC to AC inverters and various other subsystems, in any combination. It is particularly suitable for use as a retrofit solution for existing power systems needing higher efficiency.

The MAXM17574EVKIT design parameters are optimized for delivery of power from 1W to >50W at efficiencies to 95%, with a minimum input voltage of 6V. As it only requires two start-up components, design and system complexity is minimized. It includes a single voltage regulator to control the full-on and full-off phase of the output voltage and a single voltage reference for all sources to enable the buck/boost feature.

The working principle of the MAXM17574EVKIT is based on advanced and intelligent synchronous rectification and optimized switching waveforms to deliver high efficiency. The input voltage is rectified and the voltage is regulated by a buck or boost converter operating in a quasi-resonant (QR) mode, where the switching frequency can be programmed to any value between 16kHz and 500kHz. This ensures that the converter is not limited by the input voltage and can easily switch between buck and boost operations as needed.

The MAXM17574EVKIT includes a half-bridge MOSFET driver and a high-side gate driver, ensuring that the gate switching is free from traffic and side effects between high-side and low-side MOSFETs. It also ensures that the output voltage can be regulated accurately and in an efficient manner. The MAXM17574EVKIT is designed to meet the EN55022 Class B conducted EMI requirements up to 40W, and supports current-mode control, allowing fast feedback and excellent current loop response.

The MAXM17574EVKIT is specifically designed to be robust and reliable, and its features cut EMI, reduce cost and speed up the design process. Together with its internal programmable soft-start, the MAXM17574EVKIT offers designers an excellent platform to develop, evaluate and test their off-line applications.
