The MBRF500100 is a high power rectifier diode array from Schottky Silicon Power Rectifier family. It was released in April 2017, and is suitable for many applications including power supplies, adapters, battery chargers and automotive systems. This rectifier diode array offers both improved efficiency and lower power losses over standard Silicon Rectifier Diodes (SRDs). The two-terminal individual diode array package consists of four 400V Schottky rectifier diodes, each with a maximum forward current of 10A (up to 17A when air cooled).

Application Field

The MBRF500100 Schottky Rectifier Diode array is designed for high power applications requiring efficient, low voltage drop and low reverse leakage current; this makes it suitable for on-board voltage boost applications like synchronous rectifier drive circuits. Besides, this diode array enables the reduction of switching losses in diode rectifier assemblies by minimizing forward voltage drops in all operating conditions and temperatures. Furthermore, it is an ideal component for many other applications such as UPS and Power supplies, battery back-up power, motor speed control and HVAC/R systems.

Working Principle

The MBRF500100 is a four-terminal device containing 4 Schottky rectifier diodes held in parallel. Each diode is rated for individual current up to 10A, and each diode has its own anode and cathode terminals. In this device, forward current (DI) flows from the anode to cathode and when the anode is positive with respect to cathode, the reverse-biased junction does not allow current to flow from cathode to anode. The diode terminals are also connected to a common anode and cathode, so that the current from the anode to the common anode and the current from the cathode to the common cathode are the same. The common anode and cathode of the diode array are wired to the power source to form a bridge rectifier. This allows voltage input of the bridge rectifier to be AC.

The MBRF500100 helps to reduce distortion and additional losses cause by SRDs. This is because of its low forward voltage drop of only 0.33V, which is much lower than the 1.8V voltage drop of the standard Silicon rectifying diode. Additionally, the MBRF500100 enables the reduction of switching losses in diode rectifier assemblies by minimizing forward voltage drops in all operating conditions and temperatures. Further, the MBRF500100 also has a reverse leakage current of only 1µA which is much lower than the SRD.
