Working Principle

MC33164P-3RP monitors the power supply voltage, temperature of the system, overcurrent conditions, and the external reset input pin. If a fault occurs, like voltage, current, temperature and/or reset input pin exceed a certain over-limit value, the integrated power device outputs an enable signal, thus disabling the system. An integrated temperature sensor is included to monitor the health of the system. If the temperature exceeds the programmed temperature limit, the chip shuts down the system.The MC33164P-3RP also features a low-power low-voltage reset source which could be used to initiate a system reset. An additional input pin is available for the external reset signal, which enamels for system reset when pulled low. A reset hold off timer is also available, to delay the reset for a programmable period of time. The reset hold-off delay can be programmed for 55 ms, 200 ms and 1000 ms.
