Working Principle
The MC33275D-2.5 works on the principle of feedback that is used to keep the output voltage at a constant level. The output register retransmits the Feedback Voltage Reference (FVR) signal to the error input of the operational amplifier. When the output voltage deviates from the FVR, the operational amplifier accurately drives the control gate to regulate the output voltage.There are three types of transistors used in the MC33275D-2.5. The first type is the N-Channel MOSFET (NMOS) which act as switches. The second type is the PNP bipolar junction transistor (BJT) which act as current sources. And lastly, the P-channel MOSFETs (PMOS) which act as current sinks.The PNP BJT works as a series pass element, operating in the active region, allowing the PNP to be used as a variable current source or sink. The PMOS transistor acts as a current sink and the N-channel MOSFET acts as a switch, allowing the current flow in the regulator circuit.
