PMIC - Gate Drivers integrates the electric power conversion functionalities onto a single platform. Gate Drivers are designed to use the intermediate converter and supply both the electric power and current control to the electric appliance.MC34152D is a high-voltage high-current Gate Driver which performs the conversion between MOSFET and bipolar. This product\'s features make it a perfect choice for light and medium-power automotive applications. Its working principle focuses on controlling the gate voltage of the MOSFET, instead of controlling the current.The MC34152D contains three main stages: power-up reset, gate drive, and output drive. At the power-up reset stage, MC34152D instantaneously sets its low voltage logic inputs to their higher high voltage logic counterparts. This ensures that the high side MOSFETs are not simultaneously switched on, thus avoiding current surge in the load circuit.At the gate drive stage, MC34152D operates on the MOSFET gate drive voltage which provides the initial voltage required to turn on the MOSFET. It also ensures that the gate drives are protected from high voltage transients and over-voltage fault conditions.At the output drive stage, MC34152D provides the driving voltage for the outputs of the MOSFET. This enables the MOSFET to turn on and off with a controlled magnitude of a voltage. This voltage magnitude is adjusted to ensure that the low side MOSFET is turned on and off with an appropriate delay.MC34152D is designed to address a wide range of applications such as: implementing a light and medium power switch, driving multiple LED lights, regulating regenerative braking in electric vehicles, and providing a highly efficient power supply for automotive, industrial and medical applications.MC34152D is designed to operate with up to 100V DC voltage, up to 20A of peak current, 20nsec of minimum fall time, 1μsec of minimum rise time, and can operate in junction temperatures between -40°C to 150°C. This Gate Driver is smaller in size, highly reliable and offers higher electrical power conversion efficiency.The MC34152D is built with a High Side and Low Side MOSFET driver for driving gates of power MOSFETs and IGBTs. It is composed of several logic blocks and Power MOSFETs.The High Side Driver consists of two P-MOSFETs and one N-MOSFET. The two P-MOSFETs are connected in series and act as synchronous rectifier which allows the high side MOSFET to turn on and off while having the advantage of providing low conduction losses. The N-MOSFET, on the other hand, is used to protect the circuit from high voltage transients which may cause a surge in current passing through the load.The Low Side Driver consists of two N-MOSFETs which are connected in series. This allows the low side MOSFET to turn on and off with a controlled magnitude of voltage which is adjusted to provide the desired delay.Both High Side and Low Side Drivers are connected to the input signals of a logic block. The logic block consists of several logic functions such as: reset voltage and level shifter, logic one and logic zero output, logic one and logic zero enable signals and logic one and logic zero enable enable. The logic one and logic zero enable signals are used to control the rise time and fall time of the output voltage and the logic one and logic zero enable enable are used to enable and disable the output voltage.The output drive is a voltage-controlled circuit which converts the input voltage into a suitable control voltage. This circuit controls the amplitude of the output voltage and adjusts the turnover time of the MOSFETs.The MC34152D is an ideal choice for light and medium-power switch applications. It is a highly reliable device and offers higher electrical power conversion efficiency. It is also smaller in size and has a wide temperature range of operation.
