The MCP1602-ADJ/MS provides up to 1.5A of output current, adjustable output voltage with a wide 0.9V to 4.5V range and configuration of external components. The switching frequency is adjustable from 100 kHz to 1.2 MHz and the chip integrates a low-side MOSFET gate driver, making it highly efficient in either discontinuous or continuous mode of operation. The synchronous buck DC/DC converter, MCP1602-ADJ/MS, works on the principle of voltage regulation. The unregulated voltage or an input voltage is decreased to an adjustable and steady level of output voltage. This is enabled by a fast switching transistor which passes the voltage through a low on-resistance, integrated switch allowing for the full transfer of output voltage from the source. The transistor is connected between the source and ground, and the AC component of the source is rectified by the diode connected between the source and the output filtering capacitor. The output voltage is then regulated and kept stable as a PWM control circuitry controls the cycle of the switch phases, thus regulating the input and output voltages.
