The MCP73828-4.2VUA is a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) used to charge single cell Li-Ion batteries. This PMIC is designed for a 4.2 V (3.3 V to 5.5 V) Li-Ion battery cell and corresponds to the USB and I2C specifications.

The MCP73828-4.2VUA has high efficiency charging, overcharge protection and reverse protection of the battery, and can charge current up to 500mA. The PMIC is configured by external components such as a resistor and a capacitor, so it can also be used to charge batteries with a charge current that is higher than 500mA. The PMIC also supports a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 18V (application-dependent).
