MCP73843T-410I/MS

The MCP73843T-410I/MS is a highly efficient, stand-alone Linear Charge Management controller for single-cell Li-Ion and Li-Polymer battery applications. It is an integrated multifunction device that includes an internal Linear Charger Core, a System Reset, and a Serial Data Interface, making it a perfect building block for a wide variety of single-cell Li-Ion battery chargers.

The MCP73843T-410I/MS is designed for use in low power and low profile applications, allowing designers to implement a fast and space efficient power solution. The highly integrated design allows for the implementation of a complete charging solution while reducing board space and component count. The charger can be configured to operate in linear or constant current/constant voltage (CC/CV) modes and supports programmable charge currents up to 1A.

The MCP73843T-410I/MS also features an embedded safety timer which guards against prolonged charging conditions, an over-temperature protection, and an adjustable thermal regulation that provides system shutdown when programmed current, voltage and temperature thresholds are exceeded. MCP73843T-410I/MS charge management controllers modulate power delivered to the battery between a set minimum and maximum voltage, depending on the state of the battery and input voltage. When the battery voltage is higher than minimum voltage, no power is delivered to the battery to protect it from overcharging. When the battery voltage is lower than the minimum voltage, the controller will deliver power up to the regulated maximum. The regulated charge current is typically programmed within the device or set by an external resistor.

The MCP73843T-410I/MS charge management controller also features an embedded safety timer which guards against prolonged charging conditions, an over-temperature protection, and an adjustable thermal regulation. The timer will automatically shut down the system after a pre-programmed time interval, while the over-temperature protection and thermal regulation will provide system shutdown when programmed current, voltage, and temperature thresholds are exceeded.
