The MCP73832T-3ACI/OT device is a highly integrated single chip microcomputer controlled Power Management and battery management solution for Lithium-ion/Lithium Polymer based battery charger applications. At the heart of this battery charger solution is a precise 8-bit voltage and current monitoring/programming controller and charge algorithm. This chip provides superior regulation accuracy, optimization of charging time, a low overall system cost, low system complexity and a high areas of safety protection. The device features an adjustable full-scale voltage and current range that is programmable with an external resistor to match the required system needs. In addition, the device includes thermal fold-back, short circuit and current limit protection, as well as thermal monitoring. It can be used in consumer, industrial and automotive applications where battery charge is required.
The MCP73832T-3ACI/OT is mostly used in PMIC (power management IC) and Battery Charger applications. It is ideal for applications requiring precise battery charge control such as mobile phones, digital cameras, portable media players, High bandwidth Notebooks and other handheld applications. This device allows for charging of a single battery cell, or even multiple cells or multi-package batteries via an external FET. It also supports JEITA and pre-charge mode. The MCP73832T-3ACI/OT has an adjustable full-scale input current and voltage range, which is set using external resistors. In addition, the device provides thermal fold-back, short circuit and current limit protection, as well as thermal monitoring.
