The MCP73834-FCI/MF charger is compatible with USB BC 1.2 or proprietary chargers, providing protection from over-temperature, over-voltage, over-charge, and reverse charging. Second, Precondition Mode. Here, the charger applies a low start voltage and low charge current, before transitioning to constant voltage charge. This is done to improve battery lifetime and maximize charging efficiency.

Third, Constant-Voltage Charge Mode. This state is entered after the charger finishes preconditioning the battery. The charger then increases the charge voltage and current until either the battery voltage reaches the charge voltage limit or the charge current drops below a certain threshold.

Finally, Trickle Charge Mode. When the charge current drops below the threshold, the charger enters trickle-charge mode and reduces the charge current to a low level to sustain the battery\'s charge.

In addition to optimized charging, the MCP73833-FCI/MF offers power path management and dual input assessment protection, enabling applications to better manage their power needs. The power path management feature allows the application to continue to operate from the input source while charging the battery.
