The MCP73838T-FCI/UN is a member of a series of battery charge management integrated circuits (ICs). It is a cost-effective, renewable, single-cell lithium-ion (Li-ion) and lithium-polymer (Li-polymer) battery charger with integrated safety features for three different input sources. The MCP73838T-FCI/UN is designed to provide an efficient and cost-effective solution for charging single-cell Li-ion battery packs. The device can be programmed for a constant voltage current limited charging profile, a constant current voltage limited charging profile, or a programmable CC/CV charging profile. The charging current can be programmed up to 1.5A, allowing the battery to be charged quickly, while the integrated SoftStart feature ensures a smooth transition between the pre-charge and constant voltage phases. The device also provides programmable output current limit and reclining options to minimize charge time without risking overcharging the battery.
