MIC2250YML-TR is an advanced Peak Current Mode, BiCMOS DC-DC synchronous Buck Voltage Regulator that provides excellent efficiency and line regulation in small form factor.The MIC2250YML-TR features integrated high-side and low-side power FETs, maximized with adjustable output current limiting and an adjustable input voltage.The MIC2250YML-TR features a wide power range, and adjustable switching frequency as low as 300kHz. It also features a current-mode control loop, allowing for fast transient responses and excellent line and load regulation. The MIC2250YML-TR is available in a 4mm x 4mm, TDFN-10 package.Application FieldThe MIC2250YML-TR is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as cellular phones, portable equipment, battery powered systems and automotive power systems.Working PrincipleThe MIC2250YML-TR is a synchronous buck voltage regulator that operates from an input voltage from 4.5V to 20V. The output voltage is adjusted via an external resistor divider. The output current is adjusted via an external sense resistor and an adjustable overcurrent threshold.The MIC2250YML-TR features internal power FETs and includes a self-biased output, simplifying circuit design and reducing the device count in the application. The MIC2250YML-TR uses a current mode control architecture allowing for fast transient responses and excellent line and load regulation.The output voltage is regulated by a feedback loop that controls the input bias to the high-side and low-side power FETs. The MIC2250YML-TR includes an internal compensation circuit that provides stability of the converter under all load conditions.The MIC2250YML-TR also features an adjustable switching frequency from 300kHz to 2.2MHz, allowing the user to tune the loop for improved transient and AC line performance, as well as reducing EMI noise.The MIC2250YML-TR is a high-current, highly efficient regulator with integrated short-circuit and overcurrent protection. Other features include a soft-start and a low drop-out voltage operation when the input voltage is slightly lower than the output voltage.The peak current mode and high-side/low-side architecture of the MIC2250YML-TR provides excellent transient response, low output voltage ripple and reduced noise. The highly optimized design allows for high-efficiency switching over a wide input and load range.The MIC2250YML-TR is the ideal solution for low voltage, high current applications with low noise, low cost and high performance requirements. The 4mm x 4mm package and pin compatible devices reduce system size and cost, while maintaining the same level of performance.
