The MIC2595-2YM-TR Hot Swap Controller is a power management IC (PMIC) designed for isolated hot-swapping and power sequencing applications. This device helps streamline board layout by providing isolated hot-swapping control, in-rush current limiting, medium current over-current protection, charge pump outputs, sequencing, sequencing interrupts and power sequencing control. For those applications requiring hot-swapping of multiple CPU cards, the MIC2595-2YM-TR provides two isolated hot-swap channels that are individually controlled by two separate pins.
This PMIC can also be used in designs where hot-swapping is not required but the over-current and sequencing features are needed. In this application, the hot-swapping function remains disabled but the over-current protection, sequencing and sequencing interrupts are enabled. The MIC2595-2YM-TR is used in a variety of applications including powering server blades, storage subsystems, test and measurement equipment, audio and video outputs, industrial and medical equipment, networking equipment, automotive applications and many more.
The MIC2595-2YM-TR Hot Swap Controller is designed for use in a variety of applications. The device has integrated low-side MOSFETs to control 2 separate isolated hot-swap outputs. The isolated outputs are coupled with an isolated charge pump, which provides a regulated output voltage rail for the high-side MOSFETs. An integrated over-current circuit guards against faulty loads, while in-rush current limiting allows the power supply to meet requirements of connected loads. Additionally, the device has a built-in power sequencing circuit, which can sequence the power rails to ensure the devices on the board power-up in the proper order.
The MIC2595-2YM-TR Hot Swap Controller has an adjustable power-on and power-off thresholds as well as sequential delays to delay power-off or power-on signals. On top of that, the device also features a programmable dead-time for providing an additional margin for fault tolerance for any unexpected over-current. It has a fixed off-time for power on, and an adjustable off-time for power-off.
The MIC2595-2YM-TR Hot Swap Controller is designed for isolation and is packaged in a small QFN package. This PMIC uses a less-complex design and requires fewer components, and features integrated protection functions. In addition, the low-side MOSFETs and charge Pump provide a regulated output and enable efficient control of the power supply. With its integrated protection and sequencing features, the MIC2595-2YM-TR is ideal for a wide range of applications such as powering up server blades, storage subsystems, industrial and medical equipment, audio and video outputs, and many others.
