The MIC4224YMME is a high frequency, low power Gate Driver for use in Variable Frequency Output Power Control, Pulse Width Modulated Regulated Power Supplies and similar applications. This particular device integrates 2 high-side and 2 low-side drivers in a compact and power optimized package. The MIC4224YMME features an excellent inrush current limit, fast switching speed and bi-directional load protection to ensure maximum accuracy and safety.

The MIC4224YMME offers a wide range of application options, ranging from low voltage DC-DC converters and power supplies, to high voltage and high power motor drives. It also provides fail-safe protection and power up sequence to ensure proper device operation. Additionally, this device is designed to be immune to clocking jitter in AC-DC and DC-DC power supply applications.

Working Principle

The MIC4224YMME is based on a high voltage insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) technology and is designed to work at a peak voltage of up to 1,700 volts. This device contains both high side and low side driver stages connected in series, with each stage providing up to 1,700 volts of peak drive voltage and an output current of up to 2.6 amps.

The high side and low side drivers are connected in series with two power rails to ensure power efficiency. On the high side, the output voltage reaches its maximum value when the full drive voltage is applied to the device. The low side output voltage reaches its maximum value when the full drive voltage is applied with the reverse polarity.

The MIC4224YMME is designed to operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 175°C and features an overcurrent and overvoltage protection. It also includes a self test mode with an adjustable output voltage, which helps to ensure the device’s proper operation. This device also supports a range of logic thresholds from 0V to 10V, allowing for operation at low voltage levels.
