PMIC - Supervisors, or PMICs, are devices that provide system-level supervisor functions, providing protection against power supply transients, detecting shift of system dynamic conditions, and maintaining system level performance. MIC708TM is a microprocessor-controlled power supply supervisor which provides an exceptionally wide operating range from 0.6V to 18V and features configurable options. It is suitable for applications, such as automotive and industrial, that require monitoring of multiple voltage sources and system safety functions.
The MIC708TM is a microcontroller-based design which uses a low-power 8-bit processor to continuously monitor and control the power supply conditions. It monitors voltage in both the positive and negative domains, and if a voltage range is exceeded, it can automatically take action, such as reducing the voltage or shutting down the system, to protect it from injury. The MIC708TM has programmable voltage thresholds, so it can be adapted to the specific operating conditions of the system and its load.
The MIC708TM includes a wide range of external pins, which are used to configure specific operating parameters and system states. These pins include a manual reset (MR), reset output (ROut), reset active (RActive), voltage and supply status inputs (VinS, PWDnS, PWRupS), and a mode select register (MSEL).
