Working Principle
When the voltage on the protected line exceeds the clamping voltage, MSMBJ16CAE3 turns on to clamp the voltage and protect the target device. When the voltage is greater than the clamping voltage, MSMBJ16CAE3 conducts the excess current away. This current diverts the surge energy away from the protected device, preventing its destruction. MSMBJ16CAE3 can block voltages in both forward and reverse directions, acting as a bidirectional device.
MSMBJ16CAE3 has an ultra-low capacitance of 0.2pF (in the off-state). This makes it suitable for high-speed signals up to 8Gbps. It is constructed using a proprietary trench architecture, with a dedicated pin to provide exceptional ESD handling of up to 15kV and 10.2A.
