NCP1422MNR2 is a low-dropout, high-efficiency, linear voltage regulator specifically designed as a Point-of-Load (POL) regulating solution for converting a relatively wide 3.3V to 10V input voltage range down to a stable 1.2V output voltage, providing a maximum output current of 2.7A. It is an adjustable regulator with multiple output voltage alternatives allowing voltage-tolerance stabilization.
The NCP1422MNR2 is designed to work at an operating temperature range from -40℃ to +125℃, making it suitable for a variety of applications, such as Industrial System, Automotive, Multi-Standard Set-Top Boxes and also HSDPA Modems, WLAN Bluetooth and Zigbee transceivers.
Working Principle
The NCP1422MNR2 works based on the principle of Linear Voltage Regulation, which is the most basic type of voltage regulation used in the electronics industry. This type of voltage regulator takes a DC input voltage and reduces it to a lower DC output voltage while still maintaining the same voltage level when currents change.
As a standalone device, the NCP1422MNR2 is able to support a wide common-mode input range up to 10V, while providing a regulated output voltage of 1.2V. The voltage regulator is available in both an adjustable and a fixed version. The adjustable version has an output range from 0.8V to1.5V and the fixed voltage version is set to 1.2V.
