NCP1444T is a DC/DC step-down switching regulator, specifically designed for low voltage ripple and low standby current applications. It combines fast transient response, low quiescent current, and a power save/ shutdown mode. It is suitable for battery-powered applications, and other low drop-out voltage regulation applications. The NCP1444T is adjustable for output voltages from 0.8V to 20V, and is available in two efficient package options.
The NCP1444T comes in two package types, a 2.2mm x 3.2mm Thin DFN-8L and a 1.5mm x 2.0mm Thin QFN-6L. The Tiny packages reduce the overall size and cost of the application.
The NCP1444T features an internal synchronous rectifier and an internal multiplier to enable a wide output voltage range. On the output, an adjustable frequency Soft-Switch enable fast transient response and low EMI noise.
The NCP1444T supports input voltage ranges from 4.5V to 14V and output voltage range from 0.8V to 20V. Output voltage accuracy is ±2.0% and output current up to 1.2A. The device also provides an ultra-low dropout voltage and supply current at light load is 30µA for the NCP1444T.
The NCP1444T is an ideal solution for various low input voltage applications such as USB device ports, battery applications, small handhelds, PSP and PDAs. It provides an efficient, low-noise, cost-effective power supply solution for mobile devices.
Working Principle
The NCP1444T works in a synchronous rectifier buck-boost switching regulator configuration, consisting of an internal oscillator and switching MOSFETs. The oscillator frequency is adjustable from 200kHz to 1.2MHz, allowing the regulator to achieve higher efficiency and lower EMI.
The voltage reference is designed with a wide input range and a very low temperature coefficient that helps the regulator to achieve a high accuracy. The Soft-Switch technology helps the device to achieve fast transient response and low output voltage ripple.
The NCP1444T includes a power save/shutdown mode, permitting a higher efficiency at light load operation and stand-by current as low as 15µA from no-load. Thermal shutdown with hysteresis protection is also included. The digital soft-start function permits a start-up current of typically 10µA.

The NCP1444T is suitable for use in all DC/DC switching regulator applications that require high efficiency, low standby current and wide input voltage range. It is an ideal choice for battery-powered applications, USB port, small handhelds, PSP/PDAs, set-top boxes and other low drop-out voltage regulation applications.
The NCP1444T is fully compliant with all safety regulations, including EN 55011 and EN 62106 emission compliance. It is packaged in an environmentally friendly, lead-free and RoHS compliant package.
