The NCP5901EMNTBG is a feature rich, advanced single channel gate driver output stage designed specifically for buck regulator applications with MOSFET or IGBT(Insulated-gate Bipolar Transistor) switches. A wide range of features such as high-side/low-side fault protection, soft start, slew rate control, top switch reflection protection and adjustable dead-time are offered to simplify design and minimize space in advanced PMIC Gate Driver (Power Management Integrated Circuit) applications. The NCP5901EMNTBG’s high performance, minimal design and low power consumption set it apart from other available solutions as an ideal solution for a range of space-constrained applications in the industrial, telecom, automotive and aerospace industries. The NCP5901EMNTBG is a single-channel gate driver output stage specifically designed for the most common topologies used in buck regulator applications, such as synchronous buck, step-down buck and step-up buck. The device is configured as a source-side low-side/high-side gate driver, with separate output terminals for sourcing (S) and sinking (B) components. The NS/NX/NB output terminals charge/discharge the output transistors with the required current to drive them in either high or low states. The NCP5901EMNTBG provides a wide range of features to support advanced PMIC gate driver applications. Features include high-side/low-side fault protection, to protect the driver IC from short circuit and excessive power dissipation; soft start to reduce the in-rush current experienced during each PWM cycle; slew rate control for controlling the current ramp rate; top switch reflection protection to suppress unwanted oscillations when a device is connected to a floating load; and adjustable dead-time for controlling the switching overlap or crossover period between the high-side and low-side switches. To ensure minimized power losses, the NCP5901EMNTBG offers a very low on-resistance of 4 mΩ typical, reducing the total conductor losses and improving overall system efficiency. The device is supplied in a thermally-enhanced TSOT-23-5 package, eliminating the need for a dedicated heatsink and reducing the system’s thermal management costs. The NCP5901EMNTBG is a single-channel gate driver output stage with integrated features specifically designed for applications that require wide space-constraint. Its wide range of features offers advanced power management and easy integration for a variety of industrial, telecom, automotive and aerospace applications. Its low on-resistance, thermally-enhanced TSOT-23-5 package and low power consumption makes it an ideal choice for space-constrained applications.
