NM93C14M8 is a type of non-volatile 4K bit CMOS EEPROM memory. It is conceived to meet the needs of applications requiring an extensive array of nonvolatile memory in a tiny footprint.

This EEPROM memory is typically used in applications that require fast data retrieval times, solid-state reliability, and low power consumption. Some of the most common applications for this specific type of EEPROM memory include handheld instruments, medical equipment, automotive electronics, digital cameras, and a variety of other digital devices.

NM93C14M8 offers low power consumption, low supply voltage, small package size and high-speed operation. The device is available in 8-pin DIP, SOIC and TSSOP package that is compatible for automatic insertion. The device has an access time of 10 μs and write/erase cycle of 10K.

This type of EEPROM memory has an organized memory array that can be programmed and erased in rows, lines or blocks. The programmable array structure is conceptually divided into sections of 4 words, each word is 8-bits wide and is divided into two parts of a 4-bit plus a 4-bit each. It also includes an 800 times “write cycle” capability, datasheet guaranteed performance, and a million times “write endurance” capability.

NM93C14M8 employs a 4-Wire serial interface protocol that contains an 8-bit address laid out in two sections; a 4-bit High order section and 4-bit Low order section. It also has a protection feature to preserve stored data while noise spikes occur. It also uses a clock line input and a chip enable that allows a microcontroller to control its speed and power with the help of certain control instructions.

When it comes to data organization, the device contains four words of eight-bit programmable EEPROM along with two 8-bit Hidden Locators which can store data that can be used to maximize the device density. The device also contains 8-bit registers that can be used to store information for the next time the device is used. The device also contains four bytes of write protection so the user can program and erase the data.

This EEPROM memory also has a powerful read protection feature so that the EEPROM data will remain unaltered until a user unlock the security feature. Using Read and Reset instruction, it will be possible to reset the device and clear all previously stored data in the chip.

NM93C14M8 provides a range of flexibility and options to its user. The memory can be write and erased up to hundred thousands of times, making it very reliable in the long run and ideal for applications that require frequent data updates.
