Working Principle

The OPI1266 optoisolator works by isolating two circuits from each other using a light emitting diode (LED) and a photocoupler. The LED provides a constant current to a matched photo-detector. The voltage rises with increasing LED current, and at a certain threshold, the output transistor is triggered into saturation.The optoisolator isolates the two circuits from each other due to the non-conductive, non-magnetic gap between the LED and photocoupler. This gap increases the isolation voltage and greatly reduces electrical noise across the two circuits. Additionally, the optoisolator provides dual channels with independent outputs for input/output interfaces. The maximum AC/DC breakdown voltage is 500V between the input and output pins, and the current transfer ratio of the optoisolator is up to 130%.
