A TRIAC is a three-terminal semiconductor switch that functions as a two-way electrical switch. The three terminals on the TRIAC are the main terminal MT1, the gate terminal G, and the main terminal MT2. The device turns on when a current is applied to the gate terminal G.When a potential difference is applied between terminals MT1 and MT2, current flows through both of the devices. By controlling the voltage applied to the gate terminal G, the current through the TRIAC can be varied or turned off completely. This enables TRIACs to be used for switching and controlling power to a load.The Q8008DH4RP features a low turn-on voltage and low static gate current for sensitive gate control. It also features a back-to-back thyristor construction and UL 94 V-0 rated case material for better protection against heat and irregular currents.Conclusion
