Working Principle
The RT8004GQV is a synchronous buck step-down DC-DC converter and uses a quasi-resonant control technique with PSR architecture. It employs a control loop consisting of a voltage error amplifier, a PWM comparator, and an oscillator. The device is configured to modulate the switch ON time (Ton) and OFF time (Toff) of the Buck MOSFETs using the output voltage signal and the signal from a voltage feedback error amplifier. This PWM controller converts the DC input voltage to a DC output voltage.
The device features an internal soft-start circuit that prevents overshoot and undershoot at the start-up and during the load transient. It also features a wide input voltage range, fast transient response with adjustable output voltage, low output voltage ripple, and adjustable output current limit, ensuring high efficiency and operation in a low-power environment.
The device also supports power-good detection, voltage tracking, and overcurrent protection, making it suitable for a variety of applications. Additionally, it provides protection against UVLO, undervoltage lockout, and overvoltage protection to protect the system and its components.
The RT8004GQV switching regulator is designed for use in high-efficiency, high-performance computing applications, providing an efficient and reliable power solution for multiple cores.
