The RT8020AGQW is a synchronous step-down DC-DC converter with integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs. It features a constant frequency fixed operating frequency up to 3MHz and an adjustable Soft-start function, providing a power supply solution for power demanding applications. With a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 30V, the device can offer an output current of up to 2A and output voltage range of 0.7V to 17V. It implements a synchronous rectification scheme with feed-forward compensation and dynamic VID control architecture, which can achieve excellent efficiency over a wide load range.

The RT8020AGQW is designed for efficient power conversion in power demanding applications such as gaming systems, servers, base stations and data centers. The minimum operating current is 10mA and the maximum discharge current is which facilitates the device to be widthstand overload, over temperature and output over voltage condition. It also offers adjustable soft-start and DC of Duty Cycle (DDC) along with other protection features like thermal shutdown and over/under voltage shutdown to prevent safety issues.

When used in DC-DC step-down applications, the RT8020AGQW works in a manner that the current passes through an input switch, then PWDN control starts to control the MOSFET switching. During the MOSFET high-side switching, input current is set by the setting of maximum current limit protection and the peak current is controlled by the setting of Ip VOL. During the low-side switching, the RT8020AGQW will compare the Feedback Voltage (FB) and the Droop Voltage (DV) to generate the voltage compensation current to keep the output voltage close FB voltage. This output voltage can be voltage limited to prevent a load dump which could cause damages to the load.
