S3G V6G application field and working principle
The S3G V6G is a single-phase, three-leg, full wave, single-phase power factor correction (PFC) self-oscillating rectifier suitable for AC-to-DC power conversion applications. Typical application fields include AC-DC adapter power supplies, lighting control systems, home theater systems, portable audio equipment and mobile phones. This device offers fast transient response, low turn-on power loss, low input harmonic distortion, low ripple noise and soft start to reduce in-rush current.
The S3G V6G consists of three active, self-oscillating rectifier legs, each of which has a MOSFET, inductor, and a capacitor and a built-in controller. Each leg is connected in anti-parallel between the input capacitor and the load. The controller consists of a high voltage start circuit, power balance control circuit, PFC control circuit and over-current protection circuit. When an AC-voltage is applied to the input, the start circuit initiates the self-oscillating operation of the individual bridge rectifier legs, as well as controlling the switching of the MOSFETS to ensure that the average current into the load and the AC line voltage are balanced. The PFC control circuit regulates the output voltage to ensure the output is always regulated and the power factor is kept to > 0.9.
The S3G V6G is designed for a maximum input voltage of 180VAC and a maximum input current of 10A. The device is capable of providing an output voltage of up to 9V and a maximum output power of 270W. The efficiency of the S3G V6G is typically >90% and its operating temperature range is -20°C to +85°C.
