SMB10J13CAHR5G is a type of Transient voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode which is a voltage-dependent non-linear device used for protecting optoelectronics, communication lines, and solid-state storage devices. It is designed to provide a rugged form of protection against ESD, over-voltage events, and numerous transient voltage events. It has a large stand-off voltage of 13 V and peak pulse power dissipation of 11.6 W which delivers an improved level of surge protection with minimal fluctuation on operating voltage.In TVS diode, when an overvoltage occurs, current starts to flow through the device and is quickly absorbed by a large capacitance inside the diode, resulting in a steep voltage drop. This process eliminates the possibility of long-term breakdown or excessive degradation of the device, allowing the device to protect the connected components without risk of damaging them.To ensure an effective operation of the SMB10J13CAHR5G, it is typically mounted on the printed circuit boards and connected in the reverse direction to the loads being protected.
