The SMCG16A-HR is a type of transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic components from voltage transients produced by lightning or electrical induction. It can also protect against electrolytic corrosion caused by surges, since it is capable of dissipating large amounts of energy in a very short amount of time. The SMCG16A-HR is a bi-directional device, meaning it can protect against both positive and negative voltage surges.
