TVS or transient voltage suppressor diodes are circuit protection devices which provide protection against high voltage transients and surges such as those which arise from an external electromagnetic source, like lightning. The SMDB03LCCTR is a high performance transient voltage suppressor diode specifically designed to protect low capacitance data transmission lines.The SMDB03LCCTR is designed to help maintain signal integrity and data quality in mission-critical situations by suppressing transients and surges that often lead to false signaling or data corruption. The device features a standoff voltage of 4V and a peak pulse power handling capability of 15W.The device\'s two-terminal energized peak clamp features low capacitance levels (4pF typical in 0.2 inch lead spacing). It provides high peak pulse current of 7A with a typical turn-on time of 5ns. In addition, the SMDB03LCCTR is designed to protect against over-voltage conditions that often arise in automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer electronics applications.The SMDB03LCCTR is an ideal choice for electronic product designs that require superior protection against transients and surges. The device is RoHS compliant, UL recognized, AEC-Q101 qualified and compatible with lead-free soldering processes.The working principle of the SMDB03LCCTR is based on the basic principle of voltage clamping. When a transient or surge occurs, the device’s voltage clamping circuit constricts the surge current and prevents it from damaging the protected components. The circuit does this by diverting the surge current away from the protected components and back to the source.The SMDB03LCCTR is a versatile device and can be used in a variety of applications.
