TVS - Diodes

Transient Voltage Suppression Diodes, or TVS diodes are semiconductor devices which are used the protect against overvoltage from transients. TVS diodes are composed of a junction of two semiconductor layers which can be triggered when a voltage higher than the rated voltage is detected. The SMDB05/TR13 is a low capacitance diode, with a turn-on voltage of less than five volts. This means that the diode will quickly react to any voltage transients above this level.
