DC DC Converters are integral components in numerous electrical and mechanical systems. It has an integrated switching frequency of 500 kHz.Its working principle is based on buck (step-down) non-isolated converter architecture, which is common for DC-DC converters. The design consists of two major sections, the power stage and the control stage. The power stage of the SPU03M-15 DC-DC converter comprises of an inductor, a capacitor, a diode and a MOSFET switch. The capacitor is used for filtering and smoothing the output voltage, while the inductor helps to store energy necessary for the transitions in an oscillating circuit. The switch consists of a power MOSFET with an internal low resistance, which is responsible for the energy transfer between the input and output paths. The diode efficiently rectifies the output current. To increase the power efficiency of the converter, the power MOSFET and diode are designed in a synchronous rectification topology.
